JHC Helps Homeowners Choose Colors

bathroom remodeling

Johnson Home Construction has for many years offered color consultation to my customers. What that consists of is seeing the furnishings, and then devising a selection of colors within a coordinating palette that would fit their décor, and their personality. This could be as few as three colors, or as many as 50 depending on the how many rooms are to be painted, or if a customer really has an open mind.

That is the great, and yet at the same time, disheartening thing about having five thousand plus choices for paint color. Often a client will respond- I like them all, I can’t choose just one. This decision for many can be almost impossible to make for fear of making a mistake. Living with a color you are unhappy with is not something anyone would want to do. You have to look at it every day, and would be reminded of the bad choice.

Hiring a painting contractor that is willing and patient enough to buy samples and apply them will ensure the client can make a much better decision. Those small paint chips on a fan deck are really hard to visualize, and seeing them on the surface to be painted can change the way the look. There are many factors that affect color but light is probably the biggest. Having a sample applied will allow you to see it in different light that occurs throughout the day.
At my company, Johnson Home Construction, we do everything possible to comfort our clients in the choice of color, and offering house painting is more than just applying paint. It is a service. One that I strive every day to ensure is positive, stress less as possible, and one that customers would repeat again.
An extreme example of this willingness to offer an amazing service happened this very week. We were asked to repaint an interior of a home Wilmington, NC a past client just bought and was moving into in. We painted her home in Burgaw several years before, and she had a horrible time deciding on which colors she wanted to use.

She absolutely hated her color decision in the master bedroom.  It looked great on the paint chip, yet when the second coat was applied it was clear the color was entirely to dark for the room. She lived with it for two years, and swore she would never have that happen again.

JHC made sure she never would. After viewing the project, we came up with around forty colors that we thought she would like, and would work well with the décor of the new home.  I gathered all the links to the colors online at the Benjamin Moore site, and sent them to her explaining which colors we thought would work best in each room.

She reviewed the colors, and emailed me back her “likes”.  There were 24 of them, which would not have been a problem in a ten thousand square foot home. Again the words I like them all how can I choose just a few?
So 24 samples were purchased, and applied on various walls in rooms throughout the home. After some discussion, and a few minor shade changes the decision was final. Our client was so happy with the outcome, and told me she would never forget how far we went to ensure her color choices were not regrets.
We even have a professional designer available for those clients that don’t want to make a decision. Often we are called for service, and a client has no desire or time to choose colors. That is where a professional designer is needed. We do all the hard work; you enjoy the fruits of our labor with a beautifully painted home.
